LMS Selection Project: Update

  3. Contract • Addressing issues raised by IST so far • Coverage for all campuses and programs • Xyear price commitment (penalty to end early) • Initial training set • Small fixes • ePortfolio pricing, training, implementation by Katherine Lithgow • Hosting (next slide)

  4. Hosting • 2nd meeting (CAS for SSO, Turnitin, site config, bulk tool for roster loads, etc.) • Security and external hosting of uWaterloo data - will address at meeting on April 4th • E.g., Notification if a security breach occurs at the hosted facility. • Getting access to system and application logs as required to pursue a problem.

  5. Spring “test” • ~10 courses (4 CEL, ~6 campus) • Migration tool – feedback on issues • Survey questions not coming over properly • Quizzes – adds 1 to # attempts; some problems with question pools; “grace period” assumption • Hidden dropboxes not coming over • CEL courses are broken because of JS

  6. Communications • More updates: STAC, CTSC • Open House • Tuesday April 19th (tentative time, 10:30 – noon) • Determining what room size to get

Rethinking content • Recommendation 3 • UW LMS support team will collaborate to take advantage of the new environment to help create pedagogically sound & accessible fully online, blended and enhanced courses. • IST-ITMS, CEL, and CTE looking at how to better align courses, create greater consistency • Bookstore/publishers?

  8. System name • LMS team supports new name recognizing pros and cons to keeping or new • New name reflects change (esp. for students) • During transition need a name for D2L anyway, and retaining uwace may make more difficult • Support confusion: • If go through UW-ACE “What system are you on?” not obvious during overlap period • Restorations and copies over the next year – “Please restore/copy my UW-ACE course.” • Course documentation typically needs updates • Bookmarks for ANGEL may not be correct now
