Haben = to have • Haben is a verb. It tells us about someone/something that is “owning” something else.

Who has the board? • Ichhabe die Tafel • Subject (here: ich) and verb (here: habe) form a unit. The verb has to show by its ending –e- that the –ich- is the subject.
In the previous slide you were asking someone else (du) what he or she has. Since you address the person informally, the ending of the verb is st.
