  2. The Solar System consists of: • The Sun • Nine Planets • Asteroids • Comets

  3. The Sun • The sun is the center of the Solar System • It is the largest object, and is an incredible 98% of the solar system’s mass! • The temperature of the sun is 11,000 degrees Fahrenheit • You could fit 1.3 million Earth’s inside the sun!

  4. There are 2 parts to our Solar System

  5. TheInner Solar System • Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars • These planets orbit very close to the sun.

  6. The Outer Solar System • Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Pluto • These planets orbit far from the sun.

  7. Comets and Asteroids • Asteroids: • Made up of rocky and metallic material. • Is material left over from the formation of other planets. • Comets: • Made up of frozen gas and ice. • Orbit all throughout space.
