  2. *What is Shichi-Go-San?* • It is on December 15th • It is a day to celebrate 3 and 7 year-old girls and 5 year-old boys • It is said that Shichi-Go-San started in 1681 when they celebrated TokumatsuTokugawa’s health

  3. *Events* • On the morning of Shichi-Go-San, children go to a beauty parlor and have a kimono beautifully dressed • They also have their hair set up • They first visit a shrine and pray for the children’s health • After visiting the shrine, they usually go to a photography studio to have a picture taken

  4. *Food* • At the shrine, children get a candy called Chitose-Ame • It means ‘Thousand Years Old Candy’ • Inside a bag, there are one white and one red candy which are sweet flavored • The reason why they are long and narrow, is because their parents hope for children’s long and happy life
