### Hot Lunch Program Price Increases for 2008-2009 ###

  2. Area Hot Lunch Prices

Increases for 2008-2009 • Sarah Lee bread vendor will increase 3%. • Hawkeye Food Service (current food vendor from Iowa City) increased 36.5% from this year. • Cost to RCS of milk has already increased $0.05 ($0.17 to .22, or 29%). Kemps may rise another 8-10% by fall. • Fuel and grain prices may continue to drive prices up; however, wheat and soy prices may drop.

  4. 2008-2009 • The food service bid has been awarded to Hawkeye Foodservice. • Hawkeye was lower on prices for 121 items out of the 187 items on the bid beating Indianhead Foodservice’s 2nd place bid. • this year’s total bid price is $153,708 WITHOUT mark ups, a 36.5% increase. • The Average COST of a meal for 2007-08 is$1.93. The student price was $2.10 • 2008-2009 school year COST estimated at $2.02. ($0.08 more) • These prices are based on food cost+wages+benefits+rent+utilities divided by the number of meals served, this number (meal count) changes daily. • A 10 cent increase is deemed necessary to stay ahead of any midyear increases by 2 cents/meal, $2.20.
