  3. Viscosity • Resistance to flowing Maple Syrup- High Viscosity Water- Low Viscosity

  4. Ductility • Ability to be drawn into a thin wire

  5. Malleability • Ability to be hammered into thin sheets without shattering

  6. Hardness • A substance’s resistance to being scratched

  7. Solubility • Ability to dissolve in water • Yes! It is a physical property because you do not need to alter identity of the substance to determine solubility.

  8. Conductivity • Ability to carry electricity Superconductor? Semiconductor?

  9. Other examples of physical properties…. boiling point shape density freezing point melting point temperature

  10. Chemical Properties • Describe the way a substance can change or react to form other substances. • Must be determined using a process that changes the identity of the substance
