What Linky has to offer Linky PLC Concentrator GPRS Linky IS   Secondary substation Telecom network Control room Customer LV network • IIII Tariff schedule + mobile peak tariffs • IIII 8 “contacts” (electrical equipments management) • IIII Location for a radio transmitter (real-time delivery of information to the home) • IIII Load curve and index readings • IIII Producer functionalities (development of renewable energies) • IIII Management of the local loop via the system 1 Jean-Marie BERNARD – ERDF – Projet Linky

  2. A successful pilot implementation 1 2 3 Test the roll-out processes Develop an automaton(“Linky IS”) Confirm costs • IIII Installation of data concentrators: target fully met (4,600) • IIII Installation of meters: 90% of the target has been met (9 per fitter/day) • IIII Installation time in line with objectives • IIII Less than 1% of complaints • IIII Interoperability of equipments (meters & DCs) Figures from 31st March, 2011 2 Jean-Marie BERNARD – ERDF – Projet Linky

  3. Three areas of feedback: CUSTOMERS • IIII Confidence in the services provided by ERDF • IIII A natural expectation for free and straightforward services • IIII Concern firstly about cost and secondly about environmental issues • IIII Reliability and efficiency of first-generation PLC systems capable of delivering Linky services to the customer • IIII Proven interoperability of equipments (meters & DCs) TECHNOLOGY • IIII During the experiment, the working groups led by the regulator made a further request for 8 “contacts” to enable customers to manage their equipments AGREEMENT Linky, an essential component in the implementation of both Smart Grids and DSM 3 Jean-Marie BERNARD – ERDF – Projet Linky

  4. Next steps • III Present our feedback to the public authorities, in order to get their “GO” this summer • III Start the general roll-out • III Get ready for the future (2015) • III Confirm the possibilities of 3rd generation PLC through specific pilots • III Develop the system’s network functionalities • III Take part in the development of DSM services • III Include Linky in ERDF’s international offers • III Develop new “components” for the Smart Grids project, through cross-border and cross-discipline cooperation “GO!” summer 2011 2009 2011 2018 Pilot Step-by-step roll-out 4 Jean-Marie BERNARD – ERDF – Projet Linky
