Language –nourish it! • Includes spoken or written words • Enables us to express our thoughts and feelings • Comes from the Latin word that means “tongue” • Is made up of socially shared rules that include: • What words mean • How to make new words • How to put words together • What word combinations are best in what situations • “Our language is funny- a fat chance and a slim chance are the same thing.” J. Receptive Understanding others Ability to follow directions Expressive Sharing thoughts, ideas, and feelings completely Language –grow it!
