Research Impact on Warfighter“Systems Engineering Process for Air Force Counter Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED) Efforts” • Background: Combat Air Forces (CAF) commanders and decision makers need a framework with which to make C-IED operational and acquisition decisions • Goal: An analysis of CAF C-IED capability initiatives, requirements, and development of a methodology to determine most promising C-IED candidates • Impacts: • Developed unique tool to guide Air Force C-IED efforts • Created innovative measures of effectiveness • Evaluated solutions against spectrum of terrorist activities • Prioritized solutions across the doctrine, organization and material tradespace – targeted near term solutions • Allows ACC & Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization (JIEDDO) to deploy best C-IED systems
