  3. NRC Core Activity DatabaseObjectives: • Secure documentation • Improve program quality Functions: • Central database, Project factsheet, Project reporting, Outcome monitoring, • Institutional learning, Aide Memoire (project checklist) • Structure: • Different set of indicators (questions) for monthly, ¼ and start end reporting • “the unit”, “the beneficiary” and “the process”

  4. CAD – what it looks like

  5. Capture Sheet

  6. Definitions

  7. Example Indicators for Output The unit: 9 • Cost per m2 • # of toilets/latrines for single family use handed over The beneficiary: 5 • # of beneficiaries this month • # of female headed households The process: 2 - # of formal meetings with other stakeholders (Gov., NGO, UN, cluster) held this month

  8. Example Indicators for Quality The unit: • Inside outside temperature • For how many shelters handed over this month could the following forms of secure tenure be achieved:…. The beneficiary: • # of beneficiaries received hygiene promotion/WASH training this months • % of the total construction material produced by the beneficiaries/community and purchased by the project The process: • To which degree were Gender aspects specifically addressed by the project during last 3 months

Example Indicators for OUTCOME The unit: • % of beneficiaries assessing (survey) the unit as supportive for their needs The beneficiary: • To which degree (survey) were beneficiaries satisfied with their opportunity to contribute to the design/planning of the project The process: - To which degree did the formal coordination mechanism help to achieve the project's objectives?

  10. Different values for indicators • 1-5 (to which extend) • Y/N • # of something • # per something • % • Distance to something • Possibility for comments  not able to process in database

  11. What kind of OUTCOME indicators will classify a good or a bad shelter project? What aspects of outcome shall we monitor? What are the indicators? • for the unit, • the beneficiary, • the process… Are the indicators reliable and manageable? - How to measure them? (volume of OUTCOME) • Degree of success, Set score for High or Low outcome • Comparable , objectivity
