In early 2008, the Ukhahlamba District Municipality (UkDM) faced an alarming rise in baby deaths, prompting a comprehensive case study aimed at identifying causes and implementing actionable solutions. The project initiated by the Technical Assistance Unit (TAU) sought to learn from these challenges while involving various stakeholders, including political and community leaders. This report details the visit to UkDM offices, evaluations of water treatment facilities, and discussions on temporary water sourcing measures in response to the crisis, highlighting collaborative efforts for better health outcomes in the community.
