Ha permitido sustituir dientes perdidos sin tener que mutilar dientes remanentes . También ha permitido que los pacientes sin dientes puedan llevar prótesis mucho mas confortablemente que antes. -Un implante nunca es mejor que un diente pero generalmente es un buen sustito cuando el diente no es reparable. -El objetivo último de la colocación de uno o varios implantes es colocar dientes.
