  2. Step 1-Get Your Exploration Money First thing comes first on your adventure; you need money to get the ships and crew suitable for crossing the Atlantic, and sailing to a new world. This will require a generous donation from the rulers of your country. Make sure you get enough food for the long trip of 2 to 3 months, a crew big enough to conquer lands, and also a sturdy boat for the rough seas. It shouldn’t be hard to get this money; just remind the rulers that there will be plenty of gold and riches in the New World.

  3. Step 2- Sail From Spain to the New World Now it’s time to set sail for the New World! Get all of your ships and crew ready and leave Spain with many expectations of the long journey ahead of you. Be careful of how much you eat each day because the journey to Central America could take a while. You will eventually land on the coast of Mexico, and set off to find and conquer new lands.

  4. Step 3- Burn Ships to Prevent Crew from Escaping You may be a bit surprised at the cowardly attitude of your crew. If they have thoughts if retreat, there is a quick solution. Just simply burn all of your ships to prevent anyone from going back again! Leave some of your crew behind on the coast and then you can make your way to the Aztec capital, Tenochtitlan. Also, you may want to enslave a native that knows the Aztec language and Spanish, in order to translate for you.

  5. Step 4- Lead Crew into Capital The time has now come to lead your crew into the Aztec capital, Tenochtitlan! Ride proudly into the city on your horse and admire the beautiful scenery. Tenochtitlan has floating gardens, a zoo, canals, and bridges. But most importantly it has a ruler, Moctezuma, who will believe you are the god, Queztacoaltl. In Moctezuma’s attempt to keep you on the coast and out of Tenochtitlan, you will be given many gifts of food and riches. But it is not your intention to stay on the coast. You want to conquer the Aztec empire.

  6. Step 5- Convert Aztecs to Christianity A major element of the Aztec life is their religion. The Aztec’s are polytheistic, and often practice human sacrifice to please their gods. It is important to convert the Aztec’s to Christianity to correct these evil practices. In order to do this, you must approach the Aztec’s with a strong sense of supremacy, and force them to convert. Do this by gathering the natives together and shouting essentials of the Gospel at them. If they refuse to fall on their knees and repent, assume that they are rejecting the word of God, and kill or enslave them.

  7. Step 6- Introduce new things to the Aztecs When you arrive in Tenochtitlan, you might want to show off some of the goods and livestock that you brought from Spain. Introduce domestic animals like horses, sheep, cattle, and pigs to the continent. Also, bring sugar, fruits, and different kinds of grains with you. Trade them for the potatoes, tomatoes, beans, and corn that the Aztecs have grown.

  8. Step 7- Take Moctezuma Hostage and Cause Aztec Uprising You have already made it to the New World, and received riches and goods. But why should you stop now? It’s about time that you start trying to conquer the Aztec empire and call it your own. Do this by taking Moctezuma hostage, and causing an Aztec uprising. Force Moctezuma to surrender to the Spaniards. When he doesn’t, set him free, and his discontented people will stone him to death.

  9. Step 8- Make Sure the Aztecs Catch Illnesses The smallpox virus your ships brought over the seas will be a big help in conquering this empire. The Aztecs have no immunity to this new disease, and most of them will die if they catch it. Smallpox is contagious, and should be very helpful in your quest to take over Tenochtitlan.

  10. Step 9- Virtually Destroy Tenochtitlan in the Battle During this horrific battle between the Spaniards and the Aztecs, most of Tenochtitlan will be destroyed. This includes the bridges, gardens, artwork, and even fine jewels. This battle will be responsible for killing almost all of the Aztec people. Disease and stronger military force had aided you in this battle.

  11. Step 10- Capture Tenochtitlan and Build Mexico City on the Ruins Congratulations! If you are at this step, that means you have won the battle against the Aztecs. Now you must capture Tenochtitlan, and build a new city on top of the ruins in order to erase all evidence of Aztec rule. Also, you must take the Aztec’s fine jewelry and melt it down into solid gold bars. Continue trying to conquer other surrounding cities, and also make sure you are treated like a king in the new Mexico City. Best of luck on future explorations!
