  2. Objective • To interpret the quote, agree OR disagree, and cite two literary elements from “The Rocket Man” to support your stance. • Essay will be four paragraphs long

Intro PG • SENTENCE 1: Restate the quote • [According to (name) . . . . .] • SENTENCES 2 & 3: Interpret the statement • Put the quote in your own words; what does it mean? • Sentence 4: Agree OR Disagree • “Conflicts in classic works of literature have proven this quote to be true/false.” • Sentence 5: Thesis • In the (genre) (title), (writer’s name) uses (element 1) to show [your interpretation of the critical lens]. Likewise, (writer’s name) uses (element 2) to reveal [ your interpretation of the critical lens].

  4. Body Paragraphs • Sentence 1: Topic Sentence • use the first sentence of your thesis for paragraph 2 & the second sentence of your thesis for paragraph 3. • Sentences 4-6: Analysis • Explain how the author uses an element to support your stance one the quote.

  5. Conc. PG • Sentence 1: Restate the Thesis • Sentences 2-4: Wrap-up and make some concluding remarks about what was learned from the critical lens and the analysis of the above works.

  6. Remember . . . • Keep in 3rd person • So don’t use 1st (I, me, you, etc.) or 2nd (you etc) • If you think a quote is true, than your body paragraphs must help support that • Consult the rubric before turning paper in
