Overview of Flood Disaster • Millions displaced, flood continues to move south more devastation eminent • Unusually heavy rains and flash floods coupled with lack of preparedness means that the humanitarian crisis will continue to escalate • Urgent need is for food, shelter, drinking water and medical supplies • Intense floods continue to strain all available resources of aid agencies and the government • The numbers in Sindh are expected to increase further in the coming days Source: OCHA

How PCP is Facilitating Relief Work in Pakistan • Promoting the relief work of Credible Certified CSOs in Pakistan • PCP assures optimum use of donations. • The Centre would regularly monitor the funds chanalised through it and provide reports • PCP has set up a dedicated account to receive donations for its flood relief effort.  • Facilitating individual donations for providing relief items to the people in need.

  5. Why PCP • PCP establishes effective linkages between national and international donors and credible CSOs in Pakistan. • PCP is the only authorised agency in Pakistan which evaluates the performance of CSOs on international standards and certifies them. • PCP has previously been involved in providing relief assistance to those affected by  the 2005 earthquake and more recently to the IDPs from the Malakand region in northern Pakistan.

  6. PCP’s Direct Intervention • PCP team visited district Charsadda and more than 100 families received Food items and relief goods. • A medical camp was established in Charsadda in coordination with Danish Muslim Aid. • The PCP team visited Tehsil Taunsa to carry forward its humble flood relief effort. • The PCP team was the first to reach out to this area and over 125 families were provided food packs.

How Can You Donate • List of PCP certified organisations working in the affected areas are available on the website. www.pcp.org.pk • You can choose the appropriate organisation or the geographic area to channelize your funds. • You can donate any amount to a certified organisation or to PCP for onward transmission to suitable organisation. • PCP employees are directly involved in distribution of relief goods and food items; you may contribute in cash or in kind.
