ORIGINS OF BUSINESS • KFC was founded in 1930 by Colonel Harland Sanders • The first Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise opened in Utah in 1952 • KFC is a fast food restaurant that specializes in making fried chicken. • KFC is in the Yum! Brands system that includes Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, LJ’s and A&W. • KFC is currently the world’s second largest restaurant chain, which has 18,000 stores in 120 different countries.

HARLAND DAVID SANDER: KFC’S FOUNDER • Was born in Henryville , Indiana in 1890 • Father died at six years old, did responsibility with siblings. • After ten years old, worked through many jobs to support family. • After forty years old, started his career with selling fried chicken at the roadside in Corbin, Kentuckey, during the Great Depression. • Became a legendary figure of American cultural history by gotten Kentuckey Colonel in 1935. • Sold KFC to a group of investors led by Jack Massey and John Y. Browning 1963. • Visited KFC restaurants as a spokesman. • Died of leukemia at 90 in Louisville, Kentuckey.

  5. PEOPLE PEOPLE . KFC was founded by Sanders when Sanders was 40 Sanders later sold the company to John Y. Brown, who was the son of his lawyer When it got to big for Brown to handle he sold it to a drink and packaging corporation called Heinlein for 285 million dollars

  6. PEOPLECONT… • KFC started being run by R.J. Reynolds who was said to have saved the company • A lot of KFC’s ideas today come from Reynolds • Right now, the chairman of KFC is David Novak, who just won CEO of the year in 2012. • As of 2008 KFC has over one million people employed

  7. MONEY • KFC serves more than 12 million customers each day • Yum! Brands was listed to have over 11 billion in revenue in 2008 • KFC has a 42 percent market share which is more than 3 times the closest national competitor.

  9. . In Yum Brands, KFC makes the most money, more than Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, LJ’s and A&W. KFC’s EPS growth was 13% or $3.25 a share, which is the 11th year in a row they have met that mark

PRODUCTION • Colonel Sander’s secret original recipe that consisted of 11 herbs and spices is one of the most famous recipes in the fast food industry • KFC has a variety of sides that you can generally choose such as French fries, coleslaw, baked beans, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, bread rolls and American biscuit.

KFC’S INTERNATIONAL INFLUENCE • KFC was one of the first fast food chains to expand internationally • The Colonel signed his first international franchisee in Canada • By the 1960’s KFC expanded to England, Mexico and Puerto Rico • The first franchise in Australia opened in 1968 and in New Zealand in 1971 • KFC first entered the Middle East and North Africa in the early 1970’s • Japan is the third-largest market for KFC behind the U.S. and China

  16. COMPETITION • KFC issues online FREE printable coupons. • They have a multi-domestic strategy: KFC products combine with local traditional foods or spices, depending on the area. • They combine with other local organizations to distribute market shares.

  17. SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY’S • KFC has always been active in the community and with charity organizations • KFC started a non-profit organization called “ KFC Foundation” • Colonel Sanders believed that a business should have integrity, determination and must give back to the community

KFC & THE PUBLIC Not everyone welcomed KFC • In countries where many people are vegetarians or vegans, protested with the reason that killing chicken just for food is cruel. • Environmental activists accused KFC of destroying rain forests that cause harm to cities and community’s. • Health concerners blamed fried chicken won’t be good for health.

CONCLUSION • KFC is one of the largest growing fast food corporations in the world • They spread to over 120 different countries around the world and are one of the most spread out chains of fast food across the world • Harland Sanders is an excellent example of somebody who’s dreams to change the life to success. • Sanders and KFC are great examples of giving back and being one with society
