STATUS REPORT cont • SECURITY • Installation of Burglar Bars (windows) at Acacia Park, Block C and Block D completed in June 2005. • Installation of Burglar gates at Laboria Park Completed in April 2006 • SAPS has increased the number of staff at the main gates. • Issuing of access cards to all dependants residing with legal tenants at the Villages is a continuation.

  4. STATUS REPORT cont. • TRANSPORT • A two year contract for the transportation of school learners has been awarded. (Nov. ‘05 to Oct ‘’07) • A new tender for transportation of MP’s is in the evaluation process. Tender closed on 09 April 2006

  5. STATUS REPORT cont. • FURNITURE • Limited funding for furniture upgrade at the Parks has been made available for this financial year. • 5 show houses will be furnished after which a three year plan, depending on funds availability will be compiled to replace all existing furniture. • Replacement of furniture will have to be aligned to the renovation of residences

  6. STATUS REPORT cont. • BOARD ACTIVITIES • The Parliamentary Villages Management Board had three Board meetings during 2005/2006. Next Board meeting scheduled for 21 June 2006 • A workshop is planned by the Board on the 13 June 2006 where the roles of different stakeholders will be clarified • The amendments of the Parliamentary Board Act will be discussed at the next Board meeting

  7. STATUS REPORT • 2005/06 Expenditure • Maintenance = R 14 824 678 • Municipal services = R2 026 814

  8. MEDIUM TERM PLANS • Annual Building plans compiled by WSP will be ratified by DSVH and a priority plan will be compiled to do interim maintenance • Priority plan will be compiled using criteria such as • Occupational health and safety issues • General condition of the units

  9. LONG TERM PLANS • Restrictive condition on the title deed to Acacia Park by Graaf Trust was removed for R110 million consolidating ownership by DPW • Consolidation of three parks at Acacia Park is being investigated • Consultants are investigating the independent supply of water and electricity to Acacia Park • A feasibility study of upgrading of all prefab units is also being investigated.
