  2. The programme for tonight • What is the MYP programme? A brief introduction - Maria and students • Areas of Interaction – Mathias and Magali • Inquiry and concepts – MYP Unit planning and interdisciplinary work – Lee • How do we assess? - Maria and Magali • Break – During the break you will be given the opportunity to buy delicious things from MYP 5 students. All money collected will go towards their end of year school trip. • For parents of MYP 4-5 students • Personal project - Magali • Diploma Programme - First brief information from Career Counsellor Josefin Burge

The aims for the night • The aim for the night is to create an understanding of the MYP programme and its specific features, and to give you an idea of how we make it happen at ISLK. • Hopefully this experience will make a good base for you and your child/children for continuous discussions at home regarding education.

  4. The IB Mission Statement • The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. • To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. • These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

The ISLK Mission Statement ISLK is committed to creating an environment of equal opportunities that promotes understanding and respect, with a continuous focus on social responsibility and democratic issues. The aim of the school is to provide a quality curriculum, allowing students to realise their highest potential and gain a life-long love for learning. Our mission is to educate all students in a supportive and challenging environment to become open-minded, life-long learners whose performance is a credit to themselves and society.

The AoI:s provide the context Through approaches to learning, teachers provide students with tools to: • Take responsibility for their own learning • Develop awareness of how they learn best • Develop problem solving and decision making skills • Develop awareness of thought processes and learning strategies • Develop critical, coherent and independent thought
