  1. A Gamer’s Dream Criteria and Selection of a Gaming Computer By Deanna, Helen and Isabelle

  2. Our Purchaser’s Profile • Gaming is the purchaser’s passion • Consoles like Playstation and Xbox seem low-resolution • Graphics cards on PCs offer greater resolution and more real-life detail • Gaming on PCs is a generation ahead of console gaming in terms of design and complexity • Some games are only available on PC • PC gaming offers access to online gameplay with hundreds of other players at the same time. • Money is not an object

  3. Purchaser’s wish list • Visual virtual reality is key • Real-world graphics • Amazing sound • Large widescreen display and maybe multiple displays • Fast processing for responsive game play • Storage capacity or multiple hard drives to store games in progress. • Light on the software –operating system like Windows and purchased games as desired. • Some peripherals – controllers, keyboard, mouse

  4. Desktop vs Notebook vs Laptop • Portability is not required. • Graphics and processing requirements demand increased power – purchaser will not be playing on battery powered. • Significant power demands will require some sort of built in cooling capability • Large display desired ultimately determines that a PC is the desired platform.

  5. Software • PC gaming systems require little software beyond an operating system, such as Windows. • All systems we examined come with either Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 preloaded. • Games for the systems are purchased separately by the purchaser depending on the titles desired, such as Need for Speed – Hot Pursuit, etc. A typical PC game costs around $60 and can be purchased on a disk or downloaded from the internet. • File Size for Need for Speed is 15,411 MB

  7. Battle of the Computers: • Computer #1: The Dell Alienware Extreme x51 • Computer #2: The VelocityMicro Raptor Signature • Computer #3: The Origins Millennium • But which one did we choose?............THE ORIGINS MILLENNIUM

  8. Rationale+Considerations: • Rationale – We selected the Origins computer because of the wide range of customization options, ability to upgrade with increased memory + additional drives, slots for multi video cards for supporting the next generation of 3-D gaming, and the computer basically has its own air conditioning  • Specifics taken into consideration- 2*240 GB Solid state drive, Intel Core i7 4770K Quad-Core 3.5 GHz(3.9 GHz Turboboost), Peripheral bundles, Controller, Monitors*2, Speaker System, Webcam, Internet Explorer • Summary for fuller explanation: https://dbulkgctechsummerschool.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=56&action=edit&message=1

  9. Why Computer #3: • While the Dell is a good entry into gaming, for a purchaser who is not concerned about cost a customized PC is way better for this scenario “full experience”. This leaves options 2+3 the velocity and the origins. Option2 does not have as many options on personalizing, and has less expandability for future upgrades. Costs for 2+3 are both marked similarly however, #3 in final analysis wins because of the added peripherals and monitors included in the price.

  10. Other List of Specifications+Why it’s powerful • Specifications-Remote Control LED, High performance fans, WiFi/Bluetooth, Windows 7 Premium 64 bit edition, 2 OS drives, ASUS CD/DVD Burner, 40 in 1 media card, warranty for 1 year, etc. • Two separate hard drives 250 GB a piece, Intel i7 Quad processor, able to execute lots of commands quickly, access and process quickly gamer experiencing little lag between instruction and execution

  11. Reviews/ Other needed components: • Reviews • Cnet: “Endlessly customizable and very easy to upgrade” • Other needed Components: Keyboard, mouse, more display (if you really wanted), Controllers
