  1. A Vision of IFE 2020 in the Asia Pacific Region Terance Bigalke and Deane Neubauer IFE Leadership Institute Feb 23-March 6, 2009

  2. Five Proposals • Developing an Alumni Program • Regional Alumni Meetings • Developing a 2020 Website • Linking leadership cohorts with senior seminar cohorts • Biennial IFE 2020 meetings in the region

  3. Developing An Alumni Program • 2005-2009– eighty plus leadership institute participants • Bali as an initial cohort model—28 participants, providing papers focused on some aspect of their 2020-related programs. • Thailand as a model of close and continued cooperation • EWC as secretariat—the idea of co-location of a secretariat within the region—develop cooperative relationships with a range of higher education institutions

  4. Regional Alumni Meetings • Provide opportunities for cohorts to physically meet, report and develop cooperative projects • Provide a vehicle for the presentation of scholarly papers • Add workshops focused on sharing resources and developing new research skills • Promote linked research projects

  5. Developing a Website • Experimental site being developed at EWC in February 2009 • Features: reports of activities, regional meetings, related 2020 events, participant bios, updates, etc. • Site will feature one or more blogs—plan is to invite guest blog masters for limited periods of time • Other suggestions?????

  6. Linking Leadership Institutes and Senior Seminars • Create a “community of scholars and practitioners” for 2020 ideas and practices • Begin with website as a vehicle for short, periodic articles about 2020 subjects • Work toward periodic joint meetings organized around common themes • Support joint research projects, visiting lectureships, etc.

  7. Biennial Meetings • Develop 2020 into a regional biennial meeting, locating in a series of rotating sites • Use the meeting to reach out broadly within the region beyond 2020 alumni to promote consideration of 2020 issues • Promote co-sponsorship of the biennial meeting
