  1. Briefing: Elective Cosmetic Surgery – Using CSET Effectively Date: 22 March 2007 Time: 0800 - 0850

  2. Objectives • Learn how to use the Cosmetic Surgery Estimator more effectively • Know what to do when additional cosmetic procedure, not listed on estimator worksheet, is performed by a physician

  3. Summary • When patient presents to MSA Office with Cosmetic Surgery Estimator worksheet, make sure physician has completed the form correctly • Are CPT codes listed correctly? • Where procedure is to be performed marked correctly? • Is procedure bilateral? • Is quantity correct, if applicable? • Anesthesia checked? • Other procedures? Bilateral? • If doctor does not indicate, ask patient if any other procedures will be done

  4. Summary • Input all information in CSET and print out Estimate to provide to the patient • Explain the print out of the Estimate to the patient, let them know estimated cost is due in full before surgery can be scheduled • Let patient know the estimated cost may not be the final amount owed, as pharmacy dispensed and any other elective procedures that were not indicated on the estimator worksheet will be billed, and the full payment is due in 30 days • Ensure patient reads and signs acknowledgement letter

  5. Summary • Receive information that patient has had cosmetic procedure from APV Ward report • Request copy of APV record from Coder • Look over copy of record to make sure the cosmetic surgery paid for was completed. If additional cosmetic procedures are indicated that were not on worksheet, contact the clinic POC to make sure record was coded correctly • Re-create Estimate including new procedure, and create invoice showing balance owed indicating new cosmetic procedure, Pharmacy dispensed, and any ancillary services provided
