  1. WIT Mentoring 2019 Informative Meeting WIT Mentoring Pilot Programme

  2. What is mentoring? WIT Mentoring Pilot Programme Mentoring is a powerful development tool that can help you achieve yourpersonal and professional goals. In a mentoring relationship, you will have an opportunity to discuss, receive honest and constructive feed-back and get access to the information, knowledge and experience from a more experienced staff member

  3. Why are we doing this? WIT Mentoring Pilot Programme We wanted to address a demand expressed within the WIT community for providing mentoring We believe a structured mentoring programme, although organised on a voluntary and informal basis, can make it easier for WIT members to access an opportunity for mentoring that otherwise could not have happened A mentoring programme organised by WIT contributes to empower women to progress in their fields of expertise for the benefit of Science and Technology

  4. Benefits for mentors WIT Mentoring Pilot Programme The process of supporting a mentee in their career development  and aspirations can be personally and professionally rewarding Developing your mentoring skills can help you become a better manager/leader Sharing your passion and interests with your mentee The opportunity to self-reflect on your professional accomplishments and lessons learned

  5. Benefits for mentees WIT Mentoring Pilot Programme Receive career support and feedback from a more experienced staff member The ability to focus on specific questions around your career Build a relationship that can help with career development The opportunity to self-reflect on your career goals and challenges

  6. Mentoring can provide… WIT Mentoring Pilot Programme An introduction to the culture A way of providing colleagues with guidance in the organization’s unwritten rules A vehicle which a person can use to explore options and test perceptions Encouragement to grow An opportunity to tap quickly into the historical learning of the organization A chance to learn what “success” means at CERN An opportunity to learn how better to handle challenges

  7. Mentoring cannot provide… WIT Mentoring Pilot Programme A certainpath to success All the answers On-the-job training A go-between so the mentee does not have to deal with managers An opportunity to bad mouth the organization; gripe session A substitute for individual effort and contribution
