Your student fee dollars: Funding of Registered Student Organizations Long term commitments:i.e. fixed costs, buildings, etc. • 2012-13 Fees: • $31.45/credit • 14 credits=$440.30 i.e. - Student Health Services, Athletics, ChildCare, etc. – tied to positions NOTE: This is slide is highly oversimplifiedand not proportionate– details for allocation rules are in the Board of Regents Policy Paper F50 (PPF50).

Financial Affairs Commission (FAC) • A committee of students who are appointed by the Stout Student Association (SSA) • Must follow Policy Paper 50 – guidelines set by the Board of Regents • Develops the specific guidelines for distribution of funds at UW-Stout • Is responsible for allocating money to campus events in a “viewpoint neutral” manner • Funds events – not organizations • Must recuse themselves in making decisions for any event for a group in which they are or have been involved with • Any event that is sponsored by the FAC must be open accessible to all students at the University of Wisconsin – Stout

Segregated Fee Limitations “Fees may only expended for items and activities that are related to the mission of the institution and to the purposes of the organization.” PPF50 Permitted uses: Prohibited uses: Academic or credit-producing activities Basic essential university services or normal campus-wide functions (physical plant) Direct financial aid to enrolled students Gifts, donations, charitable, contributions Awards to faculty or staff Legal services Lump sum payments to any organization Cost of facilities not leased, owned or controlled by the university • Educational, recreational, cultural, social, or university athletic events. • Personal or professional services (contracted performers, bands, officials, etc.) • Production of events on campus (concerts, lectures, etc.) • Student media (papers, radio, film) • Promotional items for student organizations

Timeline • Deadline for Budget Request October 19th at Midnight • Budget Hearings will be on the following days: • Monday October 22nd 5pm-10pm • Wednesday October 24th 5pm-10pm • Thursday October 25th 5pm-10pm • Monday October 29th 5pm-10pm • Thursday November 1st 5pm-10pm • (An additional date may be added if needed) • Budget notifications will be given following deliberations

Submitting Budgets in OrgSync • Go into your organization’s page on OrgSync • In the left side navigation area select Treasury then click on Budgets • Select the 2013-2014 FY14 budget period and click the green “new budget” button • READ THE INSTRUCTIONS • Only one budget per organization – but each organization might request funding for multiple events • Fill out the blank areas and add a summary the event • For multiple items under one event select “add line item”, for multiple events select “add budget item” • Click Submit when you have finished.

FPP 50 and FAC Standing Policy FPP50 and Standing Policy Funding Sources • “SUF may only be expended for items and activities that are related to the mission of the institution and to the purposes of the organization.” Segregated Fee funding is meant to assist organizations in funding their events. It should not be the only source of funding. FUNDRAISE, FUNDRAISE, FUNDRAISE. Funds through Seg Fee’s have many restrictions and is becoming more and more limited. Establish solid fundraising programs and it will take a lot of stress off of your organization for the future.
