  2. 2013 – 2014 Florida Governor Matthew Cantrell’s “STEPS TO EXCELLENCE” ACTIVITIES December 12th Meeting SPEAKER INVOCATION Fred “Fel” Lee, Duval County School Board Chair, spoke on the "State of the Duval County Public Schools”. He reviewed the past accomplishments and changes to the public school system since the arrival of our new superintendent back in November of 2012. The review included budget, program and personnel changes. Fred took Q&A for the remainder of the time. Thank you, Fred, for your informative presentation. Heavenly Father, Help us to remember that we are here to serve, not to be served. Remind us daily of the many who need to be helped. Guide us to be there for others and assist them in times of need. And now bless this food to our use and us to Your service. Amen From: “Invocations for Kiwanis Occasions” by James J. Muench PRESIDENT’S VIEW BOARD MEETINGS Every 2nd Monday The New Year offers some new opportunities and some challenges. Welcome to 2014! Our Charity Concert scheduled for Jan. 29th must be our primary focus for now. The musicians have donated their talents and the church has given us the venue for free, so this is a great opportunity to put some money in our service account. We need to sell at least 100 tickets to give us $1,000 which would cover some scholarships for the Key Club. The challenge is for us all to get out and ask folks to support the event. Thanks to all who came to our Christmas Party, and brought lots of great food and cheer. It was good to just be together and enjoy friendship and the season. What about a beach party sometime midyear? LalRamdeen joined myself and my wife for three hours of fence painting at the Beaches Museum. There is still lots to paint, so lets try to have a day with our Key Club and our members to try to finish the project. Welcome back, and let’s have a great year supporting the children of the Beaches.
