  1. Summer Sins Immodest Dress Men want to argue in favor of immodest dress because it’s cooler. Regardless of the heat, what is “in”; etc. dressing immodestly is contrary to God’s Will, thus it is a sin.

  2. Summer Sins Immodest Dress Lasciviousness: “Unbridled lust, excess, licentiousness … wonton acts or manners, as filthy words, indecent bodily movements, unchaste handling of males or females.” (Thayer’s)

  3. Summer Sins Immodest Dress Lasciviousness: “Absence of restraint, indecency, wantonness … one of the evils that proceed from the heart … the prominent idea is shameless conduct.” (Vine’s)

  4. Summer Sins Immodest Dress Dressing immodestly leads others to have lustful thoughts which places a stumbling block before them (Mt. 5:28; Mk. 9:42). The Bible teaches us how we are to dress (1 Tim. 2:9-10).

  5. Summer Sins Immodest Dress The example of David & Bathsheba show the danger of immodesty (2 Sam. 11). Everything was set in motion when David saw Bathsheba bathing. Many are led to lust, adultery and other sins when they see another dressed immodestly.

  6. Summer Sins Immodest Dress Why would a Christian want to dress in a way that leads another to sin? Those who look on another to lust commits sin, but so does the one who dressed in a manner that led another to lust (Mt. 18:6-7).

  7. Summer Sins Mixed Swimming This is also lasciviousness. Many who normally don’t go out in public dressed immodestly do so when they go swimming. Why is it wrong to expose yourself in some public places, but alright to do so where people are swimming?

  8. Summer Sins Mixed Swimming Even if you can be in an area where mixed swimming is taking place and not have lustful thoughts, what about your influence on others?

  9. Summer Sins Mixed Swimming Are you projecting a Christ-like attitude? Are you showing concern for the souls of others? Or, are you a stumbling block, but try to justify it by arguing you can’t control what others think?

  10. Summer Sins Mixed Swimming Christians are to “abstain from every form of evil.” (1 Thess. 5:22). If mixed swimming can lead to lustful thoughts, isn’t it evil? If it causes you to be a stumbling block, it is not sinful? Since both of these are true, mixed swimming is something Christians should avoid.

  11. Summer Sins Godless Vacations Too many Christians take a vacation from God when they take one from work. Some drastically reduce or eliminate their contribution before going on vacation. What are some problems with this?

  12. Summer Sins Godless Vacations When men do this who are they putting first? Are they not choosing to ignore their obligation to the Lord? (1 Cor. 16:1-2) Even when we are on vacation the work of the church continues and our duty to the Lord must come first (Mt. 6:33).

  13. Summer Sins Godless Vacations Some go on vacation without considering where they will worship, or even IF they will worship the Lord while out of town. The Lord does not give us a waver on worshiping Him simply because we are on vacation (Acts 20:7; Heb. 10:24-25).

  14. Summer Sins We must live a life that is pleasing to the Lord at all times. We must have a good and honest heart, doing the Lord’s Will, even when it comes to our manner of dress and our recreational activities, both at home and when we are away.

  15. Will You Obey God’s Will? Hear the Gospel (Rom. 10:11-17) Believe It!! (Heb. 11:6) Repent of Your Sins – Turn From Them (Luke 13:3; Acts 2:38) Confess You Whole Hearted Belief That Jesus Christ is the Son of God (Rom. 10:8-10; Acts 8:36-37) Be Baptized for the Remission of Your Sins (Mark 16:16; Gal. 3:27; 1 Pet. 3:21) Live Faithfully Unto Death (2 Tim. 4:7-8; Heb. 10:35-39; Rev. 2:10)
