  2. Introduction…… • Replacement of poor yielding typical 20% upland Kharif area(58600 ha) by high value and high productive crops viz. Maize, Pulse, Oil Seeds through distribution of Seed Kit. • Out of 58600 ha rice area curtailed in rainfed upland, 45,179 ha has been planned to bring under Pulses & Oilseed through distribution of Seed kit.

  5. Strategy for increasing area & production of Pulses & Oilseeds • Utilization of Rice fallow for cultivation of Pulses & Oilseeds. • Cultivation of Pulses & Oilseeds through Poira cropping as an intermediate crop in Rice-Rice cropping system. • As sole crop in irrigated system. Contd….

Strategy for increasing area & production of Pulses & Oilseeds • Inter cropping in newly planted orchard. • Exploring the saline belt of the State (like Sundarbon) through cultivation of salt tolerant crop like Sunflower. • Efficient technology transfer for increasing production as well as productivity.   7. Strategy for increasing area & production of Pulses & Oilseeds • Mixed cropping with Wheat, Sugarcane, Potato. • Replacement of old varieties by newly released varieties. • Application of INM for productivity enhancement as well as conservation of soil health.
