2. GentooBy: Asher • It likes to eat crustaceans, fish, squid. • There are only 314,000 Gentoo penguins living. • It has a large orange bill and makes its nest out of pebbles. • The Gentoo is the fastest penguin -22mph! • It is 34 inches high.

3. FiordlandBy: Umith • They have a dark blue head and a yellow crest. • They are ten to nine pounds. • They nest under boulders and caves • They breed in the southern island of New Zealand.

4. Little BlueBy: Thomas • It has blue and gray feathers on its back. • Its chick has very blue feathers. • It is the smallest of the 17 penguins. • It has a white stripe on its flippers.

5. RoyalBy: Sam • The colonies are really crowded with plants at breeding area. • Only crested penguins, like the Royal, lay two eggs. • Their home is Macquarie Island.

6. EmperorBy: Madison • It has no nests. • It has a large body. • It eats lots of food. • It is 50 inches tall.

7. MagellanicBy: Maureen • They live nearby the coast of South America, but they live at the tip of South America. • South American penguins are thinner then Antarctic, because they don’t have as much blubber. • The name Magellanic came from a history book.

8. Snares By: Julia • There are no males left so they’re in a little danger. • They have white skin beneath their bill. • T he snares are dying .

9. AfricanBy: Jessie • It lays eggs twice each year. • It has bare skin on the forehead. • It is 27” tall.

10. MacaroniBy: Jacob • Macaroni nest scraped in to mud. • Macaroni nest made in mud or gravel. • Macaroni penguins have orange feathers on top of its head.

11. GalapagosBy: Grace • It has a small body with a long bill and a white ring around his face. • Their favorite thing to eat is mainly small fishes. • Their height is 21 inches or 51 centimeters.

12. Adelie By; Diana • They makes shallow dips in the ground surrounded with stones to make a nest. • Some times it snows so hard they get covered with snow. • They live in chilly waters around Antarctica.

13. KingBy: Clara • Baby king penguins have brown and fluffy feathers until they are 10 months old then they grow their adult feathers. • Each year they lay an egg and when the baby pecks out they get cared for 14 months. • They are about 3 feet tall and they have feathers on their head that are orange and yellow.

14. RockhopperBy: Carolyn • It lives in small groups. • It waits for a big wave. • They are incredibly noisy.

15. Erect CrestedBy: Alex • They have a yellow spiky crest that they can raise and lower. • They have black face and they are very noise. • They have chocolate brown eyes.

16. ChinstrapBy: Yafet • They almost look like Adelie penguins, but they have a black line on their necks. • Its chicks grow faster than other penguins. • They make nests out of stones.

17. Yellow EyedBy: Kobe • It lives in forests of the south coast of New Zealand and nearby islands. • Its nests are made of grass and twigs. • They are the only penguin with yellow eyes.

18. HumboldtBy: Brenda • It breeds on the coasts of Peru and Chile. • They compete with people to get fish. If people catch too many fish, the penguins might die. • Some Humboldt penguins share their nests with other birds.

19. PredatorsBy: Alexander Skuas Skuas eat penguin eggs and team up to divide the chick away from its mother.

20. PredatorsBy: Alexander Leopard seal Leopard seals are the biggest enemy and the only seal that eats penguins. Leopard seals eat 15 Adeli penguins a day.

21. PredatorsBy: Alexander Seathbills Seathbills scare away the penguins while they’re eating to get their own food .
