AFFILIATION Refers to a parent, step parent, grandparent or sibling, and could include any other person living in the household A judge who is an immediate family member of a competing gymnast, or a coach or club owner of a competing team is consider affiliated with that specific club team and may not be assigned as a CJ at meets in which the club is competing.   3. Technology The use of electronic tablets for gymnastics purposes only on the Field of Play is allowed. A video review is allowed at state and above if available if a judge missed an element (WTC minutes 5/13) WTC Symposium 2013

  4. Meet Referee • Must be designated at all sanctioned meets • Conducts judges’meeting • Reminders, scoring system, meet mechanics etc • Rule Changes • Equipment issues • Information from the meet director • Professional protocol • Is responsible for compiling and checking the information regarding judges’ fees for the M.D. • Conducts the video review if an inquiry was filed indicating that an element was missed WTC Symposium 2013

  5. Chief Judge • Prepares judges • Instructs judging assistants • Verifies that the score of the CJ, panel judges and time/line deductions are recorded during the competition WTC Symposium 2013

  6. Chief Judge Professional protocol • During a conference, it is the professional responsibility of the judges to come to an agreement if their scores are initially out of range. If the judges are unable to compromise, the CJ may mandate that the scores be brought into the allowable range. • Be honest in a conference. WTC Symposium 2013

  7. Meet Referee / Chief Judge Inquiries • Should be completed by the Coach • Turned in to the Meet Referee who presents the inquiry to the Chief Judge and the Panel • Do not answer in shorthand • Score changes are recorded • The completed inquiry is returned to the coach WTC Symposium 2013

  11. CHANGING A SCORE Once the final score is submitted into the scoring system, it cannot be changed unless there is an inquiry. The Chief Judge can change either an out of bounds deduction or time deduction. (neutral) if it was inadvertently not applied. Change must occur prior to the end of the rotation. The coach must be notified of the score change & if possible re-flashed. WTC Symposium 2013

  12. COMPETITION APPAREL Unitards with long legs, with or without sleeves are acceptable. If underwear is visible due to the cut of the leo, warn the athlete’s coach. If the gymnast does not correct it, take a deduction on her subsequent event. -0.20 Underwear, including sports bras should not be intentionally visible throughout the routine. However, if briefs, or bra straps show momentarily due to activity, no deduction should be taken. WTC Symposium 2013

  13. BLEEDING WOUND A bleeding wound (or any other injury due to a fall) does not give the athlete the right to repeat her exercise or resume from where she left off. If the 30 or 45 sec. fall time is exceeded before the wound can be covered, the exercise is terminated. WTC Symposium 2013

  14. SIGNALS or VERBAL CUES PULL!! If a gymnast is competing and the coach gives specific instructions to the gymnast during the routine, the deduction of 0.20 is taken without warning. WTC Symposium 2013

Flashing of Start Values Is required at ALL JO optional competitions (Levels 6-10) The SV can be written on the competition card or flashed It is the Judge’s responsibility to provide her/his own SV flasher unless provided by the host club or unless the SV is to be written on the competition card WTC Symposium 2013

  20. Level 6 Requirements • Start Value – 10.00 • Not eligible for Bonus • Value Parts • 5 “A”s @ 0.10 each • 1 “B” @ 0.30 each WTC Symposium 2013

  21. Level 6 Restrictions • Only “A” and “B” elements are allowed • If “C” or more difficult element is performed: • No Value Part • No Special Requirement • Deduct 0.50 for each restricted element from Start Value WTC Symposium 2013

  22. Level 7 Requirements • Start Value – 10.00 • Not eligible for Bonus • Value Parts • 5 “A”s @ 0.10 each • 2 “B”s @ 0.30 each WTC Symposium 2013

  23. Level 7 Restrictions • Only “A” and “B” elements allowed • IF “C” or more difficult element is performed • No Value Part • No Special Requirement • Deduct 0.50 for each restricted element from Start Value WTC Symposium 2013

  24. Level 8 Requirements • Start Value = 10.00 • Not eligible for Bonus • Value Parts • 4 “A”s @ 0.10 each • 4 “B”s @ 0.30 each WTC Symposium 2013

  25. Level 8 Restrictions • All “A” & “B” elements allowed • All “C” DANCE elements allowed • Will receive “B” value • A maximum of one “C” acro allowed • will receive “B” value • Exception – see Uneven Bars WTC Symposium 2013

  26. Level 8 Restrictions • If more than one restricted “C “ or a “D/E” element is performed (or attempted): • Considered in chronological order • No Value Part • No Special Requirement • Deduct 0.50 for each restricted element from SV WTC Symposium 2013

  27. Level 9 Requirements • Start Value = 9.7 • Maximum of + 0.30 connection bonus • For connections only • No difficulty bonus is awarded • Value Parts • 3 “A”s @ 0.10 each • 4 “B”s @ 0.30 each • 1 “C” @ 0.50 each WTC Symposium 2013

  28. Level 9 Restrictions • Only “A”, “B”, and “C” elements • Any number of “D/E” dance elements are allowed • A maximum of one “D or E” restricted element allowed • Mount, Acro or Dismount • Will receive “C” value • Exception – see Uneven Bars WTC Symposium 2013

  29. Level 9 Restrictions • If more than one restricted “D or E” element is performed (or attempted): • Considered in chronological order • No Value Part • No Special Requirement • Deduct 0.50 for each restricted element from SV WTC Symposium 2013

  30. Level 9 Bonus • Total Bonus = Maximum of + 0.30 • All Bonus must come from Connection Bonus • Not eligible for Difficulty Bonus WTC Symposium 2013

  31. Level 10 Requirements • Start Value = 9.50 • Maximum of + 0.50 bonus • Value Parts • 3 “A”s @ 0.10 each • 3 ”B”s @ 0.30 each • 2 “C”s @ 0.50 each • No difficulty restrictions WTC Symposium 2013

  35. The 2ND back handspring was of no value (preceded and followed by the same), therefore the 3rd time it was performed it may receive value part credit and count for the acro series. FALL FALL B 0 B C WTC Symposium 2013

  36. Awarding Value Parts Any salto element that does not land on the bottom of the feet first will NOT receive V.P. or S.R. credit WTC Symposium 2013

  39. BONUS Connective Value (CV) Will be awarded REGARDLESS of the execution deductions taken, except in the case of a fall or a spot Level 9 - any allowable “D or E” element will receive “C” value part credit and is eligible to be used as a “C” in an applicable CV principle WTC Symposium 2013

ADDITIONAL D/E BONUS LEVEL 10 ONLY • Awarded for any “D”and “E”provided NO fall or spot occurred • Maximum 0.40 may be awarded for Additional D/E • Same“D”or “E”element is eligible only 1 time • Many level 10 bar routines contain 2 giant 1/1, but only 1 may count for D/E Bonus • Some floor routines contain 2 front saltos with 1½ twist, only 1 may count for D/E Bonus WTC Symposium 2013

  41. CALCULATING DIFFICULTY • - 0.10 for missing A Calculate to the advantage of the gymnast • + 0.10 for D/E Bonus Level 10 gymnast performs: 2 A’s 3 B’s 1 C 1 D WTC Symposium 2013

  42. CALCULATING DIFFICULTY Level 10 gymnast performs: 3 A’s 2B’s 1 C 2 D’s 1 D replaces the missing C 2ndD replaces the missing B All difficulty requirements are met + 0.20 for two D/E Bonus WTC Symposium 2013
