Protein Choices and Risk of Allergy in Early Infant Feeding Course Objectives: Upon completion of this in-service, participants will be able to: • Establish breastfeeding as the standard for infant feeding. • Explain the differences between human milk and cow milk proteins, and the differences between cow’s milk casein and whey. • Discuss the growing problem and prevalence of pediatric allergy worldwide. • Understand the role of family history in allergic disease. • Describe risk reduction strategies in early infant feeding. • Review the recent Qualified Health Claim for 100% whey protein partially hydrolyzed infant formula and atopic dermatitis.
