  2. What is Probate? • Probate is a legal process that takes place after someone passes away to ensure their stuff goes to the right people. • This process starts when someone goes to the court for help in picking a personal representative for the deceased’s estate

Steps Involved in the Probate Process Fulfilling Personal Representative’s Duties Filing a Petition for Administration The personal representative files this special form in the court of the county where the person lived. The personal representative must find and protect all the things that belonged to the deceased.
