  1. GOOGLE MY BUSINESS ON LOCAL SEARCH RANKINGS SURVEY Presented by Jacqueline Thompson

  2. Search rankings are among the most significant factors to consider when it comes to website performance. Supporting tools and system were also created for its purpose. And Google has shared a lot to partake in the feast. And among those with a good deal of contribution is Google My Business. The Impact of Google My Business Google My Business has been making an impact recently with its significant growth in the local search ranking in 2018. The similarity in the results of the survey is similar to last year’s outcome, but there is an exception. Compared to the previous year’s 19%, Google My Business has gone up to 25%, with most of the top ranking factors coming from Google’s local pack which features video/image updates, Google Posts, and Google Q&A frequently mentioned in Moz’s 2018 search surveys.

  3. According to Darren Shaw, founder of Whiteshark, the abovementioned features offer a competitive advantage in the SEO field since there aren’t many businesses yet investing in them in the aspect of local search. Therefore, he encourages others to take the opportunity to utilise these tools. And doing so tells Google that your business is active towards its engagement to customers which proposes a promising outcome. Another chance Google My Business provides is it helps users to create content based on behaviour signals that searchers send by clicking around. Since its inception in 2008, The Local Search Ranking Factors Survey has been helping businesses, and digital marketers understand what drives behind the local search results and give them the idea to focus on what they should consider increasing their rankings. In the recent 2018 survey, there are five factors, Thematic Ranking Signals, Specific Ranking Factors in Local Pack, Foundational vs. Competitive Ranking Factors, Factors Focusing on More and Factors Focusing on Less in the Past Year, and Negative Ranking Factors.

  4. There are other notable highlights from the survey that indicates the rise of Google My Business such as an increase of giving significance to keywords, how links continuously work or link signals such as inbound anchor text. Then there are the top negative local ranking factors that include, however, incorrect information in a GMB listing. But despite negative factors, Google My Business did well this year, and we hope to see more in the years to come.
