  1. DIGITAL MARKETING Google is one of the most used search engines around the world. Thus, it is without a doubt that most people in the SEO industry optimise their site according to Google standards. However, there are other search engines users can use. As an SEO professional, we should take into consideration the different search engines when we are optimising for our website. This article aims to list search engines besides Google.

  2. Quick Recall! In a previous post, I explained a few basic concepts in SEO. One of the concepts defined is the search engine. A search engine, according to Investopedia, is a “software designed to search the internet for websites to add to an index”. In essence, it’s a program designed for the purpose of answering the user’s query by crawling, indexing, and retrieving content from the internet. With this in mind, depending on the user’s specific needs, there are numerous search engines that can cater to the user more than Google. According to Search Engine Journal, there are 14 great Google alternatives that can provide a better user experience and superior index.

  3. Specialised Search Engines Wiki.com – pulls results from community-led information like wikis Twitter – for a real-time search engine that provides minute by minute updates CC Search – great for copyright-free content; displays results labelled as Creative Commons Internet Archive – for researching old websites, or browsing the massive collection of documented material Boardreader – for forums and boards online Slideshare – for documented slideshow presentations

  4. Remarkable Search Engines Bing – has a rewards program that allows you to gain points while searching, which can be redeemed at Microsoft and Windows stores; plus the image search GUI is better than other search engines, and it’s more intuitive Yandex – the most popular search engine in Russia; also used in Belarus, Kazakhstan, Turkey, and Ukraine Swisscows – family-friendly semantic search engine Ecosia – the revenues generated from this search engine is used to plant trees (45 searches to plant a new tree)

  5. Conclusion There are numerous search engines people can use. Personally, my daily go-to search engine is DuckDuckGo. I use it because of the “!Bang” Keywords which gives the users the ability to search on specific third- party websites. When I’m searching for images, I usually go to Bing because of its UI or CC Search when I’m looking for Creative Commons materials. My point is, people use different search engines depending on what they need. As SEO professionals, the challenge for us is to be at the top of SERPs. Knowing the various search engines is the first step towards this goal. Source:  https://anythingseo.wordpress.com/2018/10/04/search-engines-in- 2018/
