  2. FORMIDABLE • Adjective • Inspiring admiration, awe, or fear • Synonyms: intimidating, threatening, impressive • Teacher’s Sentence: Achilles’ superhuman powers made him a formidable opponent.

  3. GUILE • Noun • Slyness; craftiness • Synonyms: deception; treachery; cunning • Teacher’s Sentence: Odysseus used his guile to trick the Cyclops when he told the Cyclops that Poseiden had destroyed his ship.

  4. INDIFFERENT • Adjective • Having no interest in or concern for • Synonyms: dispassionate; unemotional; impervious • Teacher’s Sentence: Simon appeared to be indifferent to his grade in English class because he did not do his homework, study for tests, or attend class regularly.
