Oregon Energy Efficiency & Conservation fast facts • 1975 Department of Energy formed, funded via energy supplier assessments and fees, not General Fund • 1977 Residential Energy tax credits start • 1979 Small Scale State Energy Loan Program (SELP) • 1980 Northwest Power and Conservation Council formed (OR,WA,ID,MT) • 1980 Bonneville Power Administration launches conservation efforts that will make Energy Efficiency 12% of the region’s electricity supply • 1999 Restructure Electric Power Industry, establishes 3% Public Purpose Charge to fund Energy Efficiency (mandatory electric, voluntary gas) • 2007 Renewable Portfolio Standard – large utilities 25% by 2025 • 2012 10 year Energy Action Plan – 100% of electric load growth via EE
