It’s a strong word. • Matt. 5:22, Ifcallyourbrother a “fool” (moros) “shallbe in danger of hellfire.” • Means “morallyworthless … scornshisheart and character” (Vine’sDictionary). • ButMatt. 7:26, “foolishman” ifnotobey!

  4. Think! Use yourMind • Psalm 14:1, “The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." • He speaks as if he did not have a mind. • He doesn’t think. Doesn’t reason. • Rom. 1:20, just look around you and know. Attributes known by creation. • Rom. 1:22, “Professingtobewise, theybecamefools.”

Use yourMind • Eph. 3:3, 4, “I havewritten… when you read, you can understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ.” Even Revelation! • “Mystery” simplymeansthatithadtoberevealed … and hadnotbeenrevealed in OT • But NOW it has been and IS NOT a mystery. • Can beunderstoodbut WE MUST USE OUR MIND … HEAR … READ … STUDY …

Use yourMind • Ifwe do notunderstandtheword of God, it’sourownfault. • We are voluntarily a-phrones… • Werefuseto use themind (intelligence) thatGodgivesus. • RememberGen. 1:27, “So Godcreatedman in Hisownimage; in theimage of God He createdhim; male and female He createdthem” -- intellect , will, emotions --fromGod

Use yourMind • The personthatGodcalls a foolistheonewhoisguidedbyignorance, opinions, prejudice, sentiments, false teaching. • 2 Pet. 2:12 and Jude 10 speak of thosewho are like “irrationalbeasts” thatwillbedestroyed. • 1 Pet. 2:15, Christiansshould “put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.”

  15. Think! Use yourMind • Nehemiah 8:1-12, Ezra and thepriestsreadthelawtothepeople. • They “gavethesense and helpedthemtounderstandthereading …” • “And all the people went their way to… rejoice greatly, because they understood the words that were declared to them.”

  16. Think! Use yourMind • Acts 8:30, “Do youunderstandwhatyou are reading? How can I, unlesssomeone guides me?” Didnothave NT (rememberEph. 3:4). • Acts 8:39, “Whentheycame up out of thewater… theeunuchwentonhiswayrejoicing.” • Because he understood and obeyedthegospel. This produces muchjoy.

Use yourMind • Therefore, studyyourBiblewithconfidence. • Makearrangementstoattendeveryservice of thechurchincludingtheBibleclasses. • Prepare forclasses and participate in them. • Prayforwisdom, James 1:5 • “Use your head!” Listen. Learn. Practicewhatyoulearn. • Grow “in grace and knowedge of our Lord”

  18. Think! Use yourMind • Invest in a goodlibraryforthefamily. • Getgooddictionaries (English and Bible), wordstudies, maps, commentaries … • Have a regular time tostudy, private and also withthefamily … • Determine that “as for me and my house” wewilllearnthe 66 books of theBible.

Matt. 7:24-28, “everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.” • Anotherstrongword: Accordingto W. E. Vine, “morós, obtuse, slow, stupid, ignorant, foolish.” Thisisthewordthat JESUS uses heretospeak of thedisobedient.

  20. Think! Use yourMind • C. Rom. 12:1, “present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable (worship) service.” • D. Disobedienceisnotreasonable. Notworshipping and servingGodisnotreasonable. • The worldlylifeisnotreasonable. • Notpreparingforthe final judgmentisnotreasonable. It’s “A-PHRON”!
