ISOC's Proposal for Managing the .ORG Domain: A Stable and Competitive Future

In June 2002, during the ICANN Board briefing in Bucharest, Romania, ISOC presented a robust proposal to manage the .ORG domain through a newly established Public Interest Registry (PIR). Leveraging ISOC's extensive global network, the PIR aims to ensure that the Internet remains stable and open. With Afilias providing reliable back-end registry services, the proposal prioritizes non-commercial interests while enabling smooth transitions and improved services for the .ORG community, backed by ISOC's stewardship and community involvement.
