  3. Introduction • Children are members of families, communities and society • The wellbeing of children is associated with wellbeing of their families, communities and the society in where they live syousuf09

  4. World is changing and different trends appear that have effect on the environment surrounding children and their families and their health • These trends are poverty, violence, homelessness, migration of different nationality syousuf09

  5. Immigration • Immigration of desert people to city • Immigration (over staying population) of Haji and Omrah people • Poor diet, intestinal parasites, tuberculosis, hepatitis A & B syousuf09

  6. Poverty • Low income family has significant effects on the well-being of the children • Poor children at risk of physical, social, cognitive and emotional effects • Have higher rates of death and illness • Infant mortality is associated with poverty syousuf09

  7. Homelessness • Factors contribute homelessness • Increase in poverty • Lack of affordable housing • Unemployment • Personal crises such as divorce, domestic violence and substance abuse syousuf09

  8. Violence • Violence crimes include: • Murder • forcible rape • robbery • assault syousuf09

  9. Health status of children • Infant mortality: no. of infant deaths during the first year of life per 1,000 live births • Child mortality: is another indicator for children health status syousuf09

  10. Injuries: is any damage or harm to an individual resulting in destruction of health, disability, or death • Unintentional injuries: congenital anomalies, cancer, heart diseases, respiratory illness, HIV, motor vehicle, bicycle, motorcycle and pedestrian related injuries syousuf09

  11. Prevention of unintentional injuries • Education • Behaviour modification: seat belt, safe hot water temperature, etc • Changes in the environment and products • Physical surrounding, toys and clothing safer etc • Change legislations and regulations • Wear bicycle helmet laws etc syousuf09
