  1. How Many Numbers Can You Remember ? By: Carrie Laramie and Carter Auch

  2. Question? • How many numbers can you remember at a time?

  3. Background Information • For different people certain senses create a more stronger memory than others. • Some people don’t even forget a certain smell and become a person who makes perfume.

  4. Hypothesis • If people hear certain numbers then they will remember them.

  5. Materials • Computer with internet • Index cards • Plastic baggies • Shoe box • Clipboard to hold down table

  6. Procedure • You will need number sequences for people to remember. Each number will need to be composed of 0-9. You can think of them yourself or use a random number generator. If you choose the generator, go to www.random.org/inform.html. • On the first set of index cards, write two numbers. These card will be the first cards that you read to the volunteer.

  7. Procedure 2 • Put cards in a plastic baggie and label them with a 2. • Repeat this step, but instead on each set of cards write three numbers, four numbers, and so on. • Collect cards and organize them in a shoe a box for easy transportation. • To collect data draw this chart.

  9. Procedure 3 • Find a volunteer to take the memory test. Explain the numbers on the cards and they will say it back to you. • Find the mean of the percentage of the scores.

  10. The Frequency Table:you will need this to find out the means for each of the volunteers.
