AGENDA ITEM 3B Congressional Visits Day • Date: 12 March 2014 • Changes to the program: • No briefing on day before CVD. • Breakfast on Capitol Hill day of CVD rather than reception after visits. • Reduces the time on site for the overall event- Reduces costs for the participants. • The Member Participation Program (CVD stipend) will be suspended for 2014 to reduce costs.

AGENDA ITEM 6 Conference Planning- Session Chair 101 • AIAA is moving into a new model for conferences and forums. • The new model is more inclusive of each area of the Institute and seeks to grow into more communities that are tied into the aerospace enterprise. • This includes an increased emphasis on Public Policy and Business Development. • New role for Public Policy Committee members to engage in conference content.

AGENDA ITEM 6 The Session Chair’s Role • Form a coherent message for the session. • Relate that message to the conference theme and current issues. • Set a positive tone. • Encourage audience participation and lively discussion. • Aid and protect the presenters. “The session chair can make the difference between a successful session and one that appears pointless, disorganized, or thoroughly upsetting”

AGENDA ITEM 6 Starting Your Session • Have session agenda on screen. • Welcome audience and invite participation(?). • Give a brief overview of the theme. • Remind all attendees of time boundaries. • Involving the audience. • If questions will be taken, when (as the session progresses, at the end of the discussion, after moderators questions) and how (Question cards, microphone, by call of the moderator) • Introduce the speaker or panelists.

  43. AGENDA ITEM 8A Durand Lecture • Durand Lectureship In Public ServiceThe Durand Lectureship, named in honor of William F. Durand, was approved by the Board of Directors in 1983. It is presented for notable achievements by a scientific or technical leader whose contributions have led directly to the understanding and application of the science and technology of aeronautics and astronautics for the betterment of mankind. The AIAA Public Policy Committee selects the lecturer and suggests a topic for the lecture, subject to the approval of the Honors and Awards Committee and Board of Directors. The lecture is presented at an appropriate AIAA conference. Nomination Deadline: 1 October

AGENDA ITEM 8B Public Service Award • AIAA Public Service AwardThe Public Service Award honors an individual who is not an AIAA member but has shown consistent and visible support for national aviation and space goals. When judging nominations, the committee will look for a public figure who is widely known outside of the aerospace community and has a positive public image, a supporter of the aerospace industry who has shown consistent and visible support of national aeronautics and/or astronautics research and development and unhesitant willingness to be identified with aerospace programs/supporters, and a person who has no personal vested interest in advocacy. The recipient may be a member of non-employer related pro-aerospace organizations or may be an elected official.Nomination Deadline: 1 October
