BBC R&D and DigiNews (2) • Self-funded contribution to DigiNews • Only modest effort available • 0.8 person-years across WP2,3,5 • Very interested in making an effective contribution to end-to-end system • Publication -> Delivery • Large amount of BBC content available for existing platforms (e.g. web delivery) • Integration of existing publication systems with new publication and delivery systems • Novel delivery and user platforms

BBC R&D and DigiNews (3) • Challenges for BBC R&D • Much experience in integrating new technology with platform and delivery diversification • DigiNews represents a particular challenge (mobility, re-publication of other content, novel receiver) • WP2, 3 • Explore how DigiNews Production->Delivery can be integrated with existing Production->Delivery models • Provide support and verification of proposed architecture • WP5 • Assess demonstration system in broadcasting context • Additional demands on broadcaster in production and delivery • Benefits for users (licence-fee payers)
