  1. How to Publish a Calculator on PumpCalcs.com By Robert X. Perez and Bill Stark of PumpCalcs.com

  2. The Steps to Calculator Publication • PumpCalcs.com welcomes users to submit calculators for publication on the website. No programming is required by users. We do it all. • E-mail the editor for initial approval of your calculator concept. • Determine if your calculator is a Basic or Expert Calculator • Submit all the calculator requirements to the editor. (See slides #4 through #7 for the Basic Calculator and the slides #8 and #9 for Expert Calculators.) • Work with editor to ensure all your information has been inputted properly and that you calculator is working properly.

  3. Basic or Expert? • Basic calculators are based on simple equations that can be solved explicitly for all variables. Slide 4 shows you an example of a Basic calculator equation • Expert calculators 1) guide the user to conclusions or recommendations using built-in logical statements based on industry experience and/or 2) have multiple results.

  4. Basic Calculator Requirements • First you need to document the formula that your basic calculator is based on. • Short form equation • Example: • Long form equation • Example:

  5. Basic Calculator Requirements (cont.) • Next, provide all possible variations of your equation, i.e. solve for all variables • Example: • Here we solved for N, the rotation speed • You also would need to provide short and long forms equations solving for Q and H.

Basic Calculator Requirements (cont.) • The following is required for each calculator variable: • Long description • Equation symbol • Base unit, i.e what units are used in your original formula? • All possible conversion units • Multipliers required for your unit conversions • Statement if a variable unitless • The next slide shows you an example unit details table.

  7. Expert Calculator Requirements • Expert calculators should be provided in an Excel spreadsheet format. • Logical statements and look-ups should be already built-in to the spreadsheet. (See slide #9.) • Note if any tables, graphs, or figures links are required. • Also, provide at least one example problem in Word format with explanations
