  6. HISTORY Paleolithic people from Asian mainland settled Japan 35,000 years ago. Japan surrenders to United States in World World II after getting attacked by an atomic bomb. Hosts the summer Olympics in 1964, becoming the first Asian country to host them. A large tsunami and earthquake hits offshore of major cities in 2011.

  7. FOODS A traditional Japan dish consist of noodles, rice, or seafood. Rice are one most the important ingredients today and can be found in many dishessuch as sushi. Noodles can be served hot or cold depending on the season. Seafood such as fish can be eaten raw, dried, boiled, grilled, deep fried or steamed.

  8. TOURISM Shibuya is a main attraction found in the capital, Tokyo. It is the center for fashion and entertainment trends. One of Japan’s most famous temple is the Todaiji temple in Nara. It is home to many of Japan’s bronze Buddha statues.

  9. THINGS TO DO Spend time in the natural hot springs at Dogo, Shikiou Hike the premier hiking grounds, Northern Alps by Kamikochi. Witness Japan’s most beautiful art in Tokyo’s National Musuem.

  10. TIPS During the summer or fall, there are many mosquitoes so repellant is advised. There is no need to tip in restaurants as it is included and is not expected to leave one. Emergency numbers are 110-Police and 119-Fire/Ambulance
