  3. Why the acronym? • Branding purposes • Sounds good • Creates curiosity • ELSZ does not stir interest

  4. Why ReCEP Experiment? • Need more time for language applications • A new ‘radical’ approach to learning

  5. Aims of ReCEP • To provide students with opportunities to take control of their learning • To provide conducive environment to use the target language • To provide some content input to develop language skills • To provide a sense ownership of their learning

  6. The Structure of ReCEP • Flexibility • Collaboration • Regular contact with language informant • No classroom learning

  7. Aims of the research • To investigate the implementation of ReCEP • To ascertain the efficiency and ‘effectiveness’ of ReCEP • To make recommendations to the authorities

  8. The Evaluation • To measure efficiency and effectiveness of the ReCEP Experiment

  9. Approach to evaluation • Qualitative Approach • Non Measurement (non test) • ‘Effectiveness’ is measured through feedback from learners, language informant & other stakeholders
