Immediate requirements • Completing Electrified, Double track from Mangalore to Nagercoil • Immediate commissioning of Mangalore – Shornur doubling • Expedite electrification of this sector • Completion of already sanctioned Mulanthuruthy – Chengannur doubling
Expedite sanction for the doubling of Thuravur – Ambalappuzha & Thiruvananthapuram – Nagercoil sectors • Single lines from Shornur Jn to Thrissur & Palakkad directions & from Ernakulam Town to Kottayam direction are to be doubled
Immediate completion of Palakkad – Pollachi & Punalur – Sengottai Gauge conversion • Remove hurdles for Guruvayur – Thirunnavaya railine • Decide on the future of Sabari railline. If it is to be constructed connect it to Thiruvananthapuram via Punalur • Introduce more MEMU services
New Projects • Introduce Automatic Signalling System • Increase the max. speed to 150 – 200 KMPH by strengthening & modernising the tracks • Coaching terminals at Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Ernakulam, Shornur, Palakkad, Kozhikode & Kannur
Coach maintenance facility at Nemom • Make Mangalore Jn – Hassan – Arsikere – Chikjajur – Hubli/Bellary another Gateway to Keralam • For uninterrupted MEMU service 2 more tracks will become essential in near future
