The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadan, i.e., is present at his home), he must observe Sawm (fasting) that month, • It is the Month • Of Quran • When Devils are chained • When Doors of Hell are closed • When Doors are paradise are open • Of Fasting (4th Pillar of Islam) • When Every Night Allah grants Salvation from the Hell. • To seek forgiveness from Allah • The month with LaylatulQadr

  3. PURPOSE OF FASTING • Literal meaning of Saum • Command to Fast • ﴿يأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ ﴾ • 183. O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may acquire Taqwa • What is Taqwa

  4. WHAT WE SHOULD AVOID IN RAMADAN • Bad Manner • To much attention to food in Ramadan • Making Suhoor too Early • Not being regular in TaraweehSalaah • Not using Miswak • Breaking the fast late • Sleeping too much • Being Lazy and lack of Strength • Not supplicating before fast • Too many parties and social gatherings • Investing most of the time in Kitchen • Shopping • Renovation of House.

  5. DEEDS IN RAMADAN TO ENTER PARADISE • Invest your all your efforts and time in this blessed month to Enter Paradise • Sincerity and Perfection of Deeds • Fasting • Obligatory Act (Salaah) • Taraweh • Reading Quran • Charity • LaylatulQadr • Remembrance of Allah • Helping one another

  6. Sincerity of Deeds • Two Conditions for the Acceptance of Deeds • 1 – Sincerity of intention towards Allaah, • 2 – It should be in accordance with the sharee’ah which Allaah has prescribed • "Actions (good deed) are (judged) by intentions (niyyah), so each man will have what he intended. Sahih Bukhari Vol 1 Hadith 1 • If anyone of you improves (follows strictly) his Islamic religion, then his good deeds will be rewarded ten times to seven hundred times for each good deed and a bad deed will be recorded as it is. Sahih Muslim Book of Belief, Hadith 205.

  7. Fasting • The Reward for Fasting is Immense • "Every action of the son of Adam is given manifold reward, each good deed receiving then times its like, up to seven hundred times. Allah the Most High said, 'Except for fasting, for it is for Me and I will give recompense for it, he leaves off his desires and his food for Me.' For the fasting person there are two times of joy; a time when he breaks his fast and a time of joy when he meets his Lord, and the smell coming from the mouth of the fasting person is better with Allah than the smell of musk." [al-Bukhari] • "Indeed there is a gate of Paradise called ar-Rayyan. On the day of Resurrection those who fast will enter through it; no one enters it except for them, and when they have entered, it is closed so that no one enters it, so when the last of them enters it, it is closed, and whoever enters it drinks, and whoever drinks never becomes thirsty." [IbnKhuzaymah. Sahih] • Fasting is a Shield Against the Fire • "Fasting is a shield with which a servant protects himself from the Fire." [Ahmad. Sahih] • "On the Day of Judgement, fasting will say: 'O My Lord I prevented him from food an desires so accept my intercession for him.' " [Ahmad, al-Hakim and Abu Nu'aim. Hasan] • Fasting is a Means for One's Sins to be Forgiven • "He who fasts Ramadhan, due to iman and hoping for reward (from Allah) then his past sins are forgiven." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

  8. Obligatory Acts On the authority of Abu Hurayrah ra, who said that Rasulullah saw said: Allah swt said: "Whosoever shows enmity to someone devoted to Me, I shall be at war with him. My servant draws not near to Me with anything more loved by Me than the religious duties I have enjoined upon him, and My servant continues to draw near to Me with supererogatory works so that I shall love him. When I love him, I am his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes, and his foot with which he walks. Were he to ask (something) of Me, I would surely give it to him, and were he to ask Me for refuge, I would surely grant him it. I do not hesitate about anything as much as I hesitate about (seizing) the soul of My faithful servant. He hates death, and I hate hurting him." (Bukhari)

  9. Taraweh Abu Hurairah reports that the Prophet (saws) would encourage people to perform the special night prayers during Ramadan (tarawih) without commanding them as obligatory and he (saws) said: "Whoever prays during the nights of Ramadan [tarawih] with a firm belief and hoping for reward, all of his previous sins would be forgiven."

  10. Quran • "Recite the Qur'aan. For on the Day of Resurrection, it shall come as an intercessor for its companion." This was recorded by Muslim in his Saheeh (no. 804). • Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said, “It is a protector; a rescuer; saving from the chastisement of the grave.” (At-Tirmidhi and Al-Hakim.)

  11. Charity • On the authority of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: • The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Every part of a person's body must perform a charity every day the sun comes up: to act justly between two people is a charity; to help a man with his mount, lifting him onto it or hoisting his belongings onto it is a charity; a good word is a charity; and removing a harmful thing from the road is a charity“(Bukhari and Muslim) • Narrated byAnasibnMalik Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "Sadaqah appeases the Lord's anger and averts an evil death.” Al-TirmidhiHadithHadith 1909 • Rasulullah (sallAllahualaihiwasallam) said: Sadaqa (charity) erases sins.

  12. LaylatulQadr ﴿إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَـهُ فِى لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ - وَمَآ أَدْرَاكَ مَا لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ - لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ - تَنَزَّلُ الْمَلَـئِكَةُ وَالرُّوحُ فِيهَا بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِم مِّن كُلِّ أَمْرٍ -سَلَـمٌ هِىَ حَتَّى مَطْلَعِ الْفَجْرِ ﴾ (1.Verily, We have sent it down in the Night of Al-Qadr.) (2. And what will make you know what the Night of Al-Qadr is) (3. The Night of Al-Qadr is better than a thousand months.) (4. Therein descend the angels and the Ruh by their Lord's permission with every matter.) (5. There is peace until the appearance of dawn.) • Aisha (r.a) stated that I asked Messenger of Allah (s), "If I find LailatulQadar then what should I do? HE (s) said, recite this Dua. "ALLAH HUMMA INNAKA A’FUVUN TOHIB BUL AFVA FA’AFU ANNI" (Tirmidhi) "O Allah! You are the Forgiver and You like forgiving so forgive me”

  13. Remembrance of Allah ﴿ فَاذْكُرُونِى أَذْكُرْكُمْ وَاشْكُرُواْ لِي وَلاَ تَكْفُرُونِ ﴾ • (152. Therefore remember Me (by praying, glorifying). I will remember you, and be grateful to Me (for My countless favors on you) and never be ungrateful to Me.) • And he (S) said, "Allah the Most High says, 'I am with my slave when he thinks of Me and I am with him when he mentions Me. For if he mentions Me to himself, I mention him to Myself; and if he mentions Me in a gathering, I mention him in superior gathering. If he approaches Me by a hand's width, I approach him by an arm's length, I approach him by two arms length. And if he comes to me walking, I hasten to him swiftly.'" - Al-Bukhari 8/171, Muslim 4/2061; this wording is from Al-Bukhari. • The Messenger of Allah [pbuh] said, ‘There are two statements that are light for the tongue to remember, heavy in the Scales and are dear to he Merciful: ‘SubhanaAllahiwabihamdihi, SubhanaAllahil-Azim [Glory be to Allah and His is the praise, [and] Allah, the Greatest is free from imperfection].’ [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] • The Messenger of Allah [pbuh] said, ‘Shall I tell you about a protection from fire? They, ‘yes.’ He says, ‘The uttering of the words: ‘Subhana Allah [Allah is free from imperfection], Al-hamdulillah [all praise is due to Allah], La ilahaillallah [there is no true god except Allah] and Allahu Akbar [Allah is the Greatest]…’

  14. Helping one another ﴿وَتَعَاوَنُواْ عَلَى الْبرِّ وَالتَّقْوَى وَلاَ تَعَاوَنُواْ عَلَى الإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ﴾ Help you one another in Al-Birr and At-Taqwa; but do not help one another in sin and transgression. • "He who relieves a hardship of this world (this earthly life) for a believer, Allah will relieve a hardship of the Day of Resurrection for him; he who makes it easy for an indebted person, Allah will make it easy for him in the world and the Hereafter; he who covers a Muslim (his mistakes and shortcomings), Allah will cover him in the world and the Hereafter; Allah will be in the slave 's need, as long as the slave is in his (believing) brother's need…" [Saheeh Muslim] • On the authority of Abu Hurariah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "He who tries to serve the widowed and the poor, is just like a fighter for Allah sake" the reporter (Abu Hurairah)
