  2. Protect your personal information!!! • There are almost 10 million victims of identity theft every year. • If asked for your personal information find out what it is needed for before sharing it

  3. Know who you're dealing with • It is remarkably easy for an online scammer to impersonate a legitimate business. • Check out the seller before you buy!!!!!

  4. Virus and spyware • Anti virus software protects your computer from viruses that can destroy your data slow your computer even let spammers to use your email and make you unhappy. • Spyware is installed on your computer with out your consent. Then it watches or controls your computer use. Watch for a barrage of ads new toolbars and unexpected icons at the bottom of your screen.

  5. Set up and update your web browser and operating system regularly • Hackers take advantage of outdated software. • Check the tools or options menu for built in security features.

  6. Protect your passwords • Don’t use personal information or adjacent keys on the keyboard for usernames and passwords. • Don’t share passwords over email, phone, internet, most organizations and businesses will not ask you to share them with employees.

  7. Learn who to contact if something goes wrong online • If you are hacked inform your ISP and the hackers if you know it. • The FBI’s internet crime complaint center is at ic3.gov
