A shared understanding of legislative mandates influencing a new approach to evaluation and accountability • A shared understanding of one district’s approach to system-wide goal setting to improve instruction and increase student learning • Make connections between the teacher, principal, central office instructional and operations & management administrators frameworks and identify ways one district is aligning the goal setting process • Complete self-assessment, create a goal, and consider goal setting implications for your work • A shared understanding of resources available to support the goal setting process Session Learning Outcomes…

  3. One District’s Approach…

  4. This year no PSD schools hit all AMO targets for all subgroups. Last year we had 2 schools. • Statewide these are very difficult targets to hit!

  5. PSD Elementary Schools Blank cells indicate making AYP or AMO When Looking at AYP / AMO results over the last 3 years you can see it has become increasingly more difficult to meet the required targets.

  8. 2011-2012 TPEP committee selects Danielson Instructional Framework 2012-2013 TPEP committee develops & recommends evaluation process and tools WASA State committee revises WASA Central Office Leadership Framework District committee develops draft frameworks for operations & management and Instructional administrators aligned with WASA & ASWP Frameworks 2013-2014 New frameworks aligned to state 8 evaluation criteria rolled out district-wide

Goal Setting…Begins with Self-Assessment: • Self-Assessment is a processfor reflecting on an educator’s instructional, leadership, and professional practice strengths and weaknesses in light of the needs of the students he or she or the district/program/department serves. • It REQUIRES ASKING: • What do the students need to learn, grow, and achieve? • What do I need to meet the learning needs of all students • in the district/department or each school?
