Summer Working High temperatures during the summer can lead to heat stress, and too much sun exposure without the right protection, can potentially lead to skin damage and ill health. • Risk assess and stay hydrated • Consider if your clothing/PPE is suitable and of breathable fabric • A persons susceptibility to heat stress will also depend on their age, weight, general fitness or if they have high blood pressure • Ensure an adequate supply of fresh water is available and drink small amounts regularly and avoid feeling thirsty Symptoms of heat stress Dizziness/headaches, weakness, rapid heartbeat, fatigue, nausea and laboured breathing • Protect yourself and know your skin • Cover up • Apply sunscreen • Regularly check your body for signs of abnormal growths • If you have any concerns, please contact your GP Remember : if caught in the early stages, melanoma is almost 100% curable! • Safety | Communication | Quality | Integrity | TeamSpirit | Caring | Trust | Pride
