  3. Navigation: top menu Thousands of pages of expert commentary are divided into nine core surveying topics. Drop down lists allow you to find practical advice on everything from access to waste management

  4. Navigation: left menu • The left-hand menu allows you to delve deeper into the commentary written by expert property professionals.

  5. Navigation: Where am I? Shading in the left-hand menu shows where you are in a section. Or the breadcrumb trail at the top of the page will show where you are on the site.

  6. Resources isurv includes access to thousands of resources, including forms, checklists, guidance notes, surveys, research reports and cases. Related resources are always available from the right-hand menu.

  7. Resources: narrowing the choice Depending where you are on the site, the list of resources will change to show only the most relevant information.

  9. Resources: Forms and checklists Forms on isurv include hundreds of sample letters, checklists and templates – available in both Word and PDF formats.

  10. Resources: RICS guidance isurv includes a full list of RICS guidance, codes and practice standards, including a growing archive of past editions.

  11. RICS Standards – Red Book, Blue Book, NRM, SMM7 … The online versions of the RICS professional standards (Red Book, Blue Book, NRM and SMM7) are available on isurv. The standards are updated first on isurv, so you will always have access to the most up-to-date versions. isurv also includes an archive of the standards allowing you to check relevant information for a specific point in time.

  12. Search: basic Search is available at the top right of every page. You can narrow your search by topic using the drop down (you are able to click multiple topics), or select ‘All’ to search the entire isurv site.

  13. Search: results On the results page you have another chance to narrow your search by topic. If your search term is included in the isurv Glossary you will be able to click a ‘Definition’ link at the top of the page.

  14. Search: advanced For more specific searches there is an ‘Advanced search’ option. Results can again be filtered by topic, but also by file type, resource or learning level.

  15. Using isurv for learning isurv provides a learning environment for RICS members at all stages of their career: from students working towards APC and Associate assessments; to chartered members meeting CPD obligations.

  16. Why should APC Candidates use isurv? isurv gives candidates the correct focus and direction through an APC or Associate training period. It includes all related RICS material in one place and provides structured reading around all pathways and technical competencies.

  17. APC and Associate The APC and Associate sections contain advice for candidates, including information on the critical analysis and final assessment. There is also guidance on the mandatory and technical competencies, split by pathway. Each technical competency includes the RICS definition and links to related reading.

  18. CPD: modules and certificates The CPD section on isurv includes information on obligations and how to meet them. There are also structured reading modules focussed on specific disciplines or professional skills. A certificate is available for each module to record and confirm CPD hours.
