  2. Application An expansion coupling allows for the contraction and expansion of a conduit run without reducing the mechanical or bonding integrity of the raceway. Code Application Mechanical 300.7 Raceways Exposed to Different Temperatures. (B) Expansion Fittings. Raceways shall be provided with expansion fittings where necessary to compensate for thermal expansion and contraction. Electrical 250.98 Bonding Loosely Jointed Metal Raceways. Expansion fittings and telescoping sections of metal raceways shall be made electrically continuous by equipment bonding jumpers or other means.

  4. 1 Slide the fitting onto the conduit until it stops at the internal sliding bushing. Tighten and you’re ready. No parts to reassemble! With a wrench, tighten the gland nut to compress the Teflon packing, creating a rain-tight seal around the conduit. Thread the next length of conduit into the other end of the fitting and tighten.
